Thousands have gathered to commemorate Anzac Day across the region early Thursday morning, including hundreds of people packing into the Eastern Beach foreshore at the Geelong waterfront.

The mornings dawn service was commemorating the 109th anniversary of the landing at Gallipoli, with big crowds also at the always well-attended service at Point Danger in Torquay.
