Concerns are being raised about the number of teaching jobs open in the region.
Figures show as many as 60 vacancies exist in public schools across Greater Geelong.
There are almost 200 teacher vacancies in Wyndham, while Whittlesea is also another region with dozens of vacancies.
Shadow Minister for Early Childhood and Edcation Jess Wilson said the teacher shortage was getting worse in Victoria.
“No student can achieve their best learning in a doubled-up classroom or by being sent home at lunch because Labor cannot manage our teaching workforce,” she said.
“Despite claiming to have spent more than $1.6 billion since 2019 on workforce initiatives – the situation is getting worse and students’ educational outcomes continue to fall.”
