Two teens have been arrested over the theft of a car as part of a police sweep of the CBD.
The duo were arrested on Little Malop Street for stealing the vehicle from Leopold.
It came as police continued their active patrols in the CBD, with operations to continue well into next year.
Two others were also offered drug rehabilitation and handed cautions for drug possession, while three people were fined for failing to follow a direction to move on.
“In combination with CCTV scanning, we will proactively patrol and scan the CBD for opportunities to make our community safer – including our patrols today, which included,” police said in a statement.
The number of car crimes committed is part of a continuing issue in the state, with Victoria named the Car Crime Capital of Australia.
According to Insurance Statistics Australia, theft claims have risen by 59 percent – the biggest increase of any state.
