A Total Fire Ban is now in place across Geelong and the Surf Coast, with CFA crews bracing for any fires that may break out.
Geelong is in for a top of 42, with the fire danger rating listed as Extreme.
A total fire ban means no fires can be lit in the open.
The CFA says the next three days will be challenging not only for firefighters, but also those living and travelling in high-risk areas, due to hot and dry conditions.
CFA Chief Officer Jason Heffernan said it was time to prepare for a fire survival plan.
“Making sure you know what you are going to do and how you are going to prepare you and your family in the event of a bushfire occurring near you,” he said.
“And getting ready ahead of what will be challenging days for firefighters.”
Authorities are worried about the conditions on Friday, with most of Victoria under an Extreme Fire Danger Rating at this stage.
Victorian Emergency Services Commissioner Tim Wiebusch also warned of the chance of localised outages.
“As a result of both extreme heat but also as a result of potential fire conditions… so again people need to prepare and charge their devices now,” he said.
“Make sure you continue to do that over these coming days.”
Extreme heat timetables will be in place for V/Line passengers today.
Speed restrictions apply on days over 36 degrees, to reduce train and track faults.
And drivers are again being urged not to leave children, vulnerable adults or pets unattended in cars during today’s conditions.
Authorities say temperatures rise to dangerous levels in just minutes.
