A fatal collision between a train and a truck at North Shore is under investigation by WorkSafe.
The 30-year-old man at the wheel of the truck was killed when his vehicle was struck by a V/Line train at the intersection of Station St and Corio Quay Rd just after midday on Monday.
The driver, from Frankston, is the 61st person to lose their life while at work since the beginning of the year.
The prime mover was towing a low loader trailer when it became stuck on a level crossing.
Around 25 passengers were aboard the train at the time but were not injured.
The fatality is also under investigation by V/Line officials and police.
V/Line says the driver and other workers involved are being provided with support.
