Tip fees waived after storm

Tip fees are being waived for Greater Geelong residents looking to dispose of waste from Tuesday’s storm.

Lara was one of the worst hit areas with trees and branches downed throughout the town, residents their are being urged to take items to the Drysdale tip.

The state government has waived levies at tip sites, meaning people can also take storm damaged items to Drysdale without incurring a fee.

Geelong council says people with cars, utes or trailers do not have to pay, but trucks will incur a standard fee and waste that was not a result of the storm will not be accepted.

Council says it will not be collecting material placed on nature strips, and people must have a Geelong address on their identification to get fees waived at the tip.

The North Geelong Resource Recovery Centre is currently unable to accept green waste due to renovations.
