It’s not great news for users of the Geelong Resource Recovery Centre and Transfer Station with the tip to remain closed until further notice.
The City of Greater Geelong has made what it says has been a ‘difficult’ decision to close the centre in Douro Street, North Geelong because of safety concerns.
A structural issue has been identified in a building condition report, which is under investigation, with a report due by the end of July
Executive Director City Infrastructure James Stirton said “The safety of our community, staff, and contractors is our top priority, and we appreciate the community’s patience”.
