Tremor shakes state

The quake occured near Leongatha (Geoscience Australia).

A magnitude earthquake of 4.3 that hit South Gippsland overnight was felt as far away as Anglesea.

The quake occurred near Leongatha at a depth of 8 kilometres at 12:49am and prompted over 4,000 people to tell Geoscience Australia they’d experienced it.

Emergency services say they did not receive any calls for help and there are no reports of damage.

A Surf Coast resident told Geelong Broadcasters their vehicle rocked for several seconds during the tremor.
