It has been revealed a woman killed in wild weather on the Victorian/NSW border was from Inverleigh.
The 63-year-old was sleeping in a cabin at Moama when a tree branch came down during a storm in the early hours of Monday.
Sadly, she died at the scene.
Her 63-year-old husband was beside her at the time.
He was treated by Ambulance Victoria crews and taken to hospital with a hand injury.
It is understood the couple had bought the cabin last year.
Victorian Premier Jacinta Allan said her heart went out to the family.
“This is obviously a very sad and tragic set of circumstances for the woman’s family,” Ms Allan said.
The Murray River Council also extended its sympathies to the family, saying the community was devastated by the death.
A report is being prepared for the coroner.
