The historic Osborne House is a step closer to its planned redevelopment.
The City of Greater Geelong has chosen Gurner Montgomery to handle upgrades to the North Geelong property.
The house, stables and nearby development site will be upgraded to include a hotel, wellness spa and event and conference spaces.
The council is putting in $8 million for heritage restoration works.
Councillor Anthony Aitken said the redevelopment respected the site’s heritage significance.
“This is an exciting step forward for one of Greater Geelong’s most treasured, although sometimes forgotten, heritage sites and icons,” Cr Aitken said.
“The reimagined Osborne will celebrate our city’s rich colonial history while creating new opportunities for jobs, accommodation, wellness and hospitality experiences.”
