Victorians help in Canadian fire battle

Locals are among the next Victorian contingent heading to Canada to help with their North American counterparts battling wildlifres in the country.

Forty Forest Fire Management Victoria staff and four CFA personnel have flown out, as part of the second group of emergency personnel to support the firefighting response.

The group includes Chrissy Noble, who is a volunteer from Modewarre fire brigade, and Tim Bennett who volunteers with the Aireys Inlet CFA.

Twenty-one personnel flew out to Canada last month to help in roles including air operations, heavy plant and strike team leaders.

Forest Fire Management Victoria says the exchange, which has been in place for more than 15 years, who the commitment to international resource sharing.
