Locals have been given the chance to view and understand our local water reclamation system.
Barwon Water held the community tours at its Black Rock facility on the coast over the weekend.
The site also includes a solar farm with over 8,300 panels, making it the first megawatt-scale solar installation in Australia’s water industry.
Managing Director Shaun Cumming said 70 million litres of wastewater was treated at the reclamation plant each day.
“The evolution of Black Rock is closely tied to the innovative and sustainable technologies we have embraced at Barwon Water,” he said.
“From creating recycled water, to renewable energy and our planned organics network facility, Black Rock is home to so many of our leading and progressive projects.”
