Areas around Lorne and the Wye, Kennett and Cumberland River have been issued emergency warnings as wet severe storms and flash flooding set in across the region.
Videos on social media have showed cars being washed away in the area as water levels rise.
There are very dangerous conditions being caused by a severe thunderstorm while floodwaters can rise very quickly and move fast.
Wye River’s also burst its banks as the storm cell pass through.
More than 25mm of rain have been recorded at the weather bureau’s gauge in AIreys Inlet since around 1.15 this afternoon.
As well as the flood warnings, severe weather warnings for both thunderstorms and damaging winds have been issued for across the area.
The Great Ocean Road is also closed between Skenes Creek and the Wye River, with sections of the road flooded.
Emergency services have urged those in the region to remain inside and away from the flood waters, and have urged drivers not to drive into flood waters.
