A woman is dead and a man has life threatening injuries following a crash at Balliang.
The crash yesterday afternoon initially saw two cars collide on Bacchus Marsh road.
“It is believed a Holden sedan collided with a Ford SUV on Bacchus Marsh Road, near the intersection with Granite Road about 5pm,” police said in a statement.
“Investigators believe the Holden then veered onto the wrong side of the road, colliding with a Ford Ute.
“The driver of the Holden, a 70-year-old woman from Melton was taken to hospital with life-threatening injuries.
“The passenger of the Holden, an 85-year-old man from Melton was taken to hospital with life-threatening injuries.
“The occupants of the other vehicles were not injured.”
It was later confirmed the 70-year-old woman had died in hospital.
Police have called for assistance from the public, with anyone who has CCTV or dashcam footage urged to come forward.
