Repairs to Torquay’s surf beach seawall are due to get underway next month.
Up to fifty metres of damaged wall will be replaced, including new concrete footings and bluestone.
Authorities say there’ll also be another 25 metres of maintenance works.
“To complete works on the beach, the rock bags will be removed, and a cofferdam will be constructed to keep the worksite separate from the ocean and tides,” the Great Ocean Road Coast and Parks Authority said in a statement.
“Access to the surrounding beach and foreshore will be maintained over the busy holiday period, but there will be temporary fencing and exclusion areas in place to keep workers and the public safe.
“Construction during the Summer period is the only option as there are generally less storms and large swell events that would damage the work site or prevent works progressing.”
