After a year’s break, the Bellarine Football Netball League’s showpiece event will return to Grinter Reserve.
AFL Barwon has chosen Newcomb’s venue to host this year’s grand final after it was held at Leopold Memorial Park – the first time on a non-league venue – in 2024.
Grinter Reserve, which hosted the 2022 and 2023 deciders, will also host preliminary final day, with Portarlington Recreation Reserve maintaining the first and second weekends.
An upgrade to the netball facility helped the Power with their bid.
It is understood that Portalington, which has the catering rights this year, and Leopold both expressed interest in hosting the grand final.
“The venue selection process was overseen by AFL Barwon Commission, taking into consideration a range of factors from the club submissions that were provided,” a statement from AFL Barwon said.
“All clubs were invited to submit an expression of interest, allowing for an open, inclusive, and transparent process.
“Hosting finals provides clubs with a unique opportunity to showcase their facilities, celebrate the hard work of volunteers, and bring the broader football and netball community together.”
Venues for the finals series for junior male, and senior and junior female have also been confirmed.
Junior male grand finals will be held at Herne Hill Reserve, with Drew and Walkers ovals to be utilised.
Lara Recreation Reserve will host the senior, under-16 and under-14 female grand finals, with the under-18 female decider at Anthony Costa Oval.
The Geelong Football Netball League finals venues are expected to be confirmed in the coming days.
