Black boost for Suns

BEYOND THE BOUNDARY – APRIL 10

Former North Melbourne and Geelong forward Aaron Black will make his first appearance for the Bellarine’s new kids on the block, among five changes for Surf Coast’s clash with Portarlington at Portarlington Recreation Reserve.

The Suns have also named under-18 eligible Koby Nielsen, under-18 graduate Tim Sadler, and former East Geelong duo Mitch Wright and Tim Lee.

They replace co-captain Joss Howlett (calf awareness), Riley Cotter (corkie), Zac Warne (adductor), Scott Hughes (calf), and Tim Brejcha.

Portarlington will be boosted by the inclusion of Brock Williamson, who has returned home after an impressive stint at Leopold, and reigning Bellarine Team of the Year ruck Scott Greenhough.

They replace Kalan Dart and Jesse Hunter.

BFNL: AT SELECTION – ROUND TWO

Torquay looks set to make four changes for its meeting with Queenscliff at the renovated McCartney Oval.

The match-up with the Coutas will mark Travis Boak’s first appearance for the club since 2006.

He was drafted later that year to AFL club Port Adelaide, retiring at the end of last year following a glittering 387-game career.

The Tigers have also included Lucas Cook, who was a first-round draft pick by AFL club Melbourne in 2010, veteran forward Lucas Anderson, and 2023 grand final best-on-ground Nathan Mifsud.

Cooper Heard (shoulder) and Hamish McGowan (ankle) will be missing from the team that hammered Surf Coast last week.

Recruits Nick Rippon and Jaydo Wright will make their debuts for Queenscliff, with Ollie Skurrie promoted from the reserves.

Newcomb will unveil Leopold premiership trio Logan Wagener, Andrew Pepper and Luke Justin for its trip to Anglesea.

For Wagener, it’s his second senior stint at the Power, playing 23 games across 2019 and 2021.

St Joseph’s recruit Ben Clarke and Harry Fraser (Geelong West GDFNL) will also pull on a maroon and blue guernsey for the first time.

Drysdale has named debutant Jackson Payne among three changes for a tough battle against Geelong Amateur on Past Players’ Day at Mortimer Oval.

The Hawks have also included Jye Hawkins and Paddy Power.

They replace Jye Bolton, Kieran Delahunty and Angus Dewar following their one-off appearances in last week’s loss to Queenscliff.

Ammos have lodged four changes, with last week’s late withdrawal, James Hickey, to make his first senior appearance for the club since leaving for St Joseph’s as an under-16.

Big man Hamish Shepheard, experienced forward Riley Mattner, and midfielder Zac Nelson have also been included.

For Nelson, it’s his first senior game since late 2024.

They replace Archer Hanegraaf, Jacob Sharp, Nick Beekmans, and Jordan Toll.

Sharp is facing six weeks on the sidelines with a fractured scaphoid, Toll has a back issue, Hanegraaf a calf problem, and Beekmans is unavailable.

Seb Hutley has been named as the replacement for the injured Tom Worpel as Modewarre looks to open its 2026 account against Ocean Grove at Community Bank Oval.

The Grubbers have promoted Shepparton recruit Baden Pohlner and veteran Jye Walker, with Nathan Down also named after missing the Round 1 loss to Anglesea.

Harry Cashin is unavailable, while Kirby Reilly has an upper arm injury, and Charlie Every suffered a broken finger at training on Thursday night.
