Queenscliff’s quest to end what is now a 12-year premiership drought has been boosted by news that master coach Heath Jamieson has signed a three-year contract extension.
The Coutas have confirmed via social media that Jamieson will remain in the position until at least the end of 2028.
Jamieson first took charge of Queenscliff ahead of the 2008 season for a four-year stint, which included breaking a 36-year premiership drought in 2011.
After a decade away, which included guiding GFNL club St Joseph’s to three flags and Uni Blues to a VAFA premiership, he returned last year and, in 2025, guided the young Coutas to their first finals berth in seven years.
Jamieson is revered not only for his coaching of the senior team, but also for his whole-of-club approach.
“Jamo’s contribution to our club extends well beyond the senior football program,” the Coutas said on social media.
“This season, he not only further strengthened his connection with our senior and reserves players, but also generously volunteered his time to coach our Under 14s.
“His commitment to developing our juniors has been inspiring and shows his genuine care for every level of the club.
“He is more than just a coach – Jamo is a mentor, a supporter and a great person to have at Queenscliff.
“He has built relationships across the club – footballers, netballers, volunteers and sponsors alike – and we are proud and excited to have him leading us again.”
Meanwhile, Che Durran has won his third consecutive Queenscliff best-and-fairest award.
Durran, who was also named the Coutas’ best in finals, edged out Bellarine Team of the Year member Lachie Kidd,
