FOR the first in a quarter of a century, the surname Limb won’t feature on Queenscliff’s senior list.
Coutas coach Steve Clark has confirmed premiership captain and coach Tom Limb is retiring after 186 games.
Limb, who also featured at VFL level with North Ballarat, is one of four brothers to wear the red, white and blue at senior level, starting with Michael Jnr in the mid-1990s and including Blake and Matt.
“He was umming and ahhing about playing in 2020, and I think he’d come round to definitely having that last crack at it,” Clark told K rock Football’s Coaches Countdown
“Over the COVID (period), he’s had another kid, so he’s got another addition to the family now.
“And he probably realises how much time he’s got on his hands now that he’s not around the footy; he’s found golf.”
A star in the Coutas midfield that claimed a hat-trick of flags between 2011-13, Limb captained the first success before replacing Heath Jamieson as coach and guiding Queenscliff to the 2012 and 2013 premierships.
He was a five-time BFL representative, including both captaining and coaching the Sharks at interleague level.
Limb won the Coutas’ best-and-fairest in 2010 and 2013 was a six-time BFL Coaches’ Team of the Year selection, including as coach in 2012-13.
In 2013 he was named the Geelong and District Coaches’ Association’s Senior Coach of the Year.
