Geelong Amateur has produced arguably one of the biggest signings in Bellarine history with the unveiling of Tom Liberatore.

Having already added former Melbourne player Jack Henderson, Ammos took to social media this (Thursday) morning to confirm the Western Bulldogs great would make KFC Oval his football home in 2027.

It is understood Liberatore isn’t committed for the whole season.

“‘Libba’ brings a wealth of experience, toughness and leadership to the club,” a statement on Geelong Amateur’s Facebook page said.

“The move will also see him reconnect with former Bulldogs teammate Sam Lloyd and good mate Tom Gribble, while spending more time with his family down at Jan Juc.

“For Geelong Amateur, this is about more than one player. It’s about building a strong culture, bringing great people through the doors and creating an environment that players want to be part of.”

Drafted by the Bulldogs as a father-son selection in the 2010 National Draft from the Calder Cannons, Liberatore, the son of 1990 Brownlow medallist Tony, played 268 games and kicked 93 goals.

He also featured in the club’s drought-breaking 2016 premiership and won their best-and-fairest in 2014.

Liberatore’s signing raises the prospect of a match-up against Geelong great Gary Ablett Jnr to open the Bellarine season, with Geelong Amateur expected to face Modewarre in the now-traditional Good Friday clash.
