Torquay has landed one of the recruits of the Bellarine off-season after signing gun midfielder Doyle Madigan.
The Tigers have confirmed to K rock Football that the 2024 Mathieson medallist, who also finished joint runner-up in the GFNL best-and-fairest last month, will return to his junior club.
A Torquay product, Madigan played two senior matches under Dom Gleeson in 2017 while on the Geelong Falcons list.
He made 18 Talent League appearances in 2018 before joining GFNL club South Barwon in 2019.
At the Swans, Madigan played 114 matches while also playing seven games with Geelong’s VFL team in 2025.
“As a club, we couldn’t be more excited to welcome Doyle back home to Torquay,” coach Dom Gleeson said.
“Through his time in the GFL and VFL programs, Doyle has continued to develop and mature into a well-rounded footballer.
“We’ve watched his journey with great pride and have always been his biggest supporters.
“We always had a feeling he’d find his way back home; but more importantly, we wanted to see him make the most of every opportunity along the way.
“We know he’ll bring plenty to our playing group, not only through his ability and experience on the field, but also through the positive influence he’ll have around the club.
“On a personal level, I’m really looking forward to working alongside him and seeing the impact he can have on our group.”
However, the Tigers will also welcome back Chase Loftus, with August Stelma (Geelong West GFNL) and Gus Morrison (St Joseph’s) also joining this year’s beaten grand finalists.
