Tom Couch has become the latest former AFL player to sign with a Bellarine League club.
The 35-year-old, who played three games for Melbourne in 2012, has joined beaten 2023 elimination finalist Anglesea.
The ‘Seas announced Couch’s signing on social media on Friday night.
The son of 1989 Brownlow medallist Paul, Couch made seven appearances and kicked 14 goals with Hampden League powerhouse Koroit last year.
A St Joseph’s junior, Couch played GFNL at Joeys and Bell Park, VFL with Geelong and Collingwood and SANFL at Woodville-West Torrens and Glenelg before joining the Demons via the 2012 rookie draft.
After being delisted by Melbourne, Couch played at VFL level with the Magpies, Richmond and the Casey Scorpions, back in the GFNL with Bell Park, and was playing coach of North Launceston’s Tasmanian State League premiership team in 2017.
A strength and conditioning specialist, he was the High Performance Manager for the ATP/WTA tennis tours and worked with American star Danielle Collins.
Couch is currently Academy and forward line coach with Carlton’s AFLW program.
He joins St Bede’s Mentone duo Jacob Agostino and Courtney Weatherburn, Dylan Featon (Deer Park) and Mitch Johnson (Labrador) as arrivals at Ellimatta Reserve.
Anglesea opens its season with a trip to Barwon Heads on Easter Saturday.
