A Modewarre great will make a delayed start to 2026, while a Colac star has escaped suspension after AFL Barwon’s Match Review Panel handed down its findings from the weekend.

Warrior Matt Farrelly has accepted a three-week suspension for striking Barwon Heads youngster Noah Young during the second quarter of Saturday’s loss at Howard Harmer Oval.

The incident, which has placed Young in the concussion protocol, was assessed as intentional conduct, high contact, and high conduct, drawing a four-match sanction.

However, Farrelly has lodged an early guilty plea, ruling him out of Saturday’s final-round meeting with Portarlington and the opening two weeks of next year.

Garner received a yellow card and was reported for charging following late contact on Bell Park assistant coach Ben Lloyd in a marking contest during the final term of the Tigers’ one-point loss at Hamlyn Park.

The MRP determined the incident to be intentional conduct, body contact and low impact, with a one-match suspension reduced to a reprimand with the early plea.

It wasn’t the only case scrutinised from the match, with Dragons star Hamish Lucas cleared of an alleged trip/kick on Colac youngster Chaise Murray.

Winchelsea’s Jack Symmons and Corio’s Blake Ash will both miss Round 17 of the GDFNL season after accepting one-week suspensions.

Both incidents resulted in two-match bans before early guilty pleas were entered.
