Talented Queenscliff youngster Sol Bowtell will be free to play in Saturday’s blockbuster clash with a Torquay lineup featuring Travis Boak, after entering an early guilty plea for an incident from the Round 1 win over Drysdale.
Bowtell received a yellow card and was sent from the field during the third quarter of the clash at Queenscliff Recreation Reserve for rough conduct on Hawks midfielder Jye Bolton, sparking a melee between the two teams.
Bolton was making a one-off appearance for his junior club after a distinguished career in the WAFL, which included winning two Sandover medals as league best-and-fairest.
AFL Barwon’s Match Review Panel assessed the incident as careless conduct, high contact, and low impact, resulting in a one-match penalty.
However, the early guilty plea means Bowtwell escapes with a reprimand, but makes him ineligible for the Ash Medal.
It is understood that Bolton was yellow-carded later in the contest.
Meanwhile, Barwon Heads recruit James Callaway and returning St Joseph’s young gun Mal White were looked at for incidents but cleared of wrongdoing.
