Werribee Centrals newcomer Matthew Watt is facing the prospect of a three-match suspension after being cited for an incident in Saturday’s win over Belmont Lions at Winter Reserve.
Watt, who has returned to football after last playing with Werribee Districts in 2022, has been offered a three-week suspension by AFL Barwon’s Match Review Panel for rough conduct on Lion Ollie Mayman during the third quarter.
The incident was assessed as intentional conduct, high impact, and high contact, drawing a four-match ban.
However, an early guilty plea reduces the suspension to three matches.
Teammate Aaron Stone can escape with a reprimand if he lodges an early guilty plea after being cited for striking Lion James Grohmann during the third quarter.
The MRP assessed the incident as careless conduct, medium impact, and body contact.
Also in the GDFNL, Bell Post Hill’s Jed Saunders can accept a reprimand with an early guilty plea for rough conduct on North Geelong’s Charlie Smith in the Panthers’ upset win over the Magpies.
In the GFNL, Colac’s Jack Slater is facing a one-match sanction for rough conduct on St Albans’ Cody Brogden during the final term of the Tigers’ crucial win over the Supersaints at Central Reserve.
Meanwhile, St Joseph’s co-coach James Gow has been offered a reprimand for tripping St Mary’s co-captain Brayden Ham in the third quarter of the night clash at Anthony Costa Oval.
One incident was assessed in the Bellarine, with no charge laid against Newcomb’s Charlie Harvey for alleged rough conduct on Queenscliff’s Lachie Kidd.
