Blues welcome back gun forward, add basketballer

September 30, 2025 4:16 pm in by

A returning forward and a talented basketballer have been unveiled as Winchelsea’s latest recruit.

Having already welcomed back defender Adam Walsh from a one-year stint at Bellarine club Ocean Grove, the Blues have confirmed the return of joint 2024 GDFNL leading goalkicker Jordan Gould and the arrival of 199cm big man Jack Terrill.

Gould spent this year playing with home club Tantanoola in South Australia, kicking 30 goals from 11 games, and helping the club to a preliminary final.

“We’ve been in constant contact with Jordy; he’s been training with us throughout the season while he’s been travelling back home for footy,” coach Ben Moloney said.

“We’ve always said, ‘We’d love you to come back next year’

“He had a few injury issues. He did an ankle, and he broke some ribs, and he got knocked out. So he was up against it for a bit.

“Unfortunately, he didn’t make the big dance. But I’m rapt that he got to do that for himself and for his family.

“But, we’re equally as pumped to just have him back.”

Moloney is also excited about the prospect of having Gould and 2025 recruit Cam Primmer in the same forward line.

Primmer kicked 42 goals, including 29 in the second half of the season, including four hauls of five goals or more.

“It probably gives us that flexibility to put ‘Huffy’ (Jordan Huff) back, where he’s the general back and he controls the back six.

“Our midfield’s obviously been strengthened with David Isbister, so to have a big key target like Gouldy and another option in ‘Prim’, it’s pretty scary for any defenders next year.”

Terill, who played at the NBL1 level with Geelong United and in Brisbane, hit the hardwood in 2025 with Bellarine Storm.

The 24-year-old, who last played football with St Albans at an underage level, arrives at Eastern Reserve through his connection with former Blues coach Brendan Forssman.

“Jack watched the Brisbane-Geelong (qualifying) final and he just got the itch,” Moloney said..

“He said, ‘I’ve travelled with my basketball. I’ve been overseas and I’ve been interstate, and I think I’ve got the itch to play footy again’.

“It was a pretty good conversation, and he seemed really keen.

“There was interest elsewhere once they heard about him, so we’re rapt to be able to get him on board for sure.”

With Mitch Thomas, who carried the ruck load in the absence of the injured Zac Herman for the majority of the season, retiring, Terrill shapes as a handy replacement.

“Ideally, Jack rolls straight in,” Moloney said.

“But again, he hasn’t played for six or seven years, so we’ll test him out in training for sure.”
