JACK Brauman is among a handful of local stars who won’t miss out on kicking the footy this winter despite the cancellation of the GDFL, GFL and BFL seasons.

The Bannockburn premiership gun, who has experience at VFL level with Werribee, is headed north to Surfers Paradise for the Queensland AFL season, which is due to start a nine-round competition on July 11.

“He just loves footy and wants to play,” Tigers coach Peter Riccardi.  Last year, he had a few games up in the Northern Territory in the off-season.

“His girlfriend’s got relatives up there (in Queensland).

“It’s like taking a lolly away from a baby taking footy away from Jack.”

Geelong West Giants duo Alex Blair and Joseph Bangura have both lodged clearances to Brighton in Tasmania’s Southern Football League, which starts on July 25.

Veteran North Geelong high-flyer Paul Breguet and Thomson premiership player Dave McLeish are both looking at playing in the VAFA, which has set a return-to-play date of July 25.
