Rival coaches haven’t been able to split Winchelsea’s Ben Moloney and Werribee Centrals’ Rhyce Prismall, with the former Werribee VFL teammates named as co-coaches of the GDFNL Team of the Year.
Those who voted for Moloney acknowledged his efforts in guiding the Blues to their first minor premiership since the club joined the competition in 2002.
Winchelsea will play its first final in 12 years when it faces East Geelong in Saturday’s second semi-final for a spot in the decider.
Prismall’s 14-4 record, which included winning 11 consecutive matches to start the season, was also recognised.
After losing the qualifying final, the Centurions now face the Belmont Lions in a cutthroat first semi-final.
The team features 13 first-time selections; Brad Gerrard and Josh Mawson (Anakie), Henry Hawker (Bannockburn), Brock Carter (Bell Post Hill), Ben McPherson and Lachie Slorach (Belmont Lions), Caleb Ezard (East Geelong), Mason Dickson (Inverleigh), Boston Riccardi (North Geelong), Jed Hanneysee (Thomson) Tate Camilleri (Werribee Centrals), and Indi Parish and Cam Primmer (Winchelsea)
Returning from the 2025 team are club captains Jack Yates (Bell Post Hill), John McIntyre (East Geelong), Jordan Camm (Thomson) and Michael Culliver (Werribee Centrals), Geelong West gun Jacson Collins, North Geelong key defender Ben O’Brien, and the Belmont Lions’ Braeden Eddy, who maintained his spot in the back pocket.
Highlighting the evenness of the competition, 11 of the 12 clubs were represented.
