Corio coach Joel Bennett has been found to have no case to answer after being scrutinised for making contact with Bannockburn’s runner during last week’s clash at Victoria Park.
Footage shows Bennett, who will step down from the role at the end of the season, pushing away Tigers runner Chris Rieck, who was standing on the edge of a small melee during the third quarter.
AFL Barwon’s Match Review Panel said in its weekly statement that “no reportable incident was identified”.
The MRP also laid no charges for an incident that forced Anakie spearhead Andrew Boseley from the ground in the win over Thomson at Godfrey Street.
While in the GFNL, Colac’s Josh Garner was in the clear for making contact with an umpire in the opening quarter of the win over St Joseph’s at Central Reserve.
Teammate Joffy Simpkin accepted a reprimand with an early guilty plea after being cited for charging St Joseph’s star James Gow.
The MRP assessed the incident as intentional conduct, contact to the body, and low impact, drawing a one-match suspension.
In the Bellarine, Modewarre veteran Ryan Williams is free to play in Saturday’s must-win meeting with former club Anglesea after also accepting a reprimand.
The 36-year-old midfielder was charged with striking Queenscliff skipper Caleb Whitley during the second quarter of the Warriors’ season-saving win.
The incident was assessed as careless conduct, high contact, and low impact, attracting a one-match suspension.
