BANNOCKBURN has lured star Bell Post Hill midfielder Matt James to Victoria Park.

James, who won the 2018 Whitley Medal and was runner-up last year, spent two seasons with the Panthers having come from GFL club North Shore, where he played 28 senior games.

“He is known for his line-breaking speed, ball usage and is a key ball winner, playing (the) majority of his career through the centre,” Bannockburn said on social media.

“Matty will strengthen our midfield, and we are excited to see them all line up together.”

James signing comes less than a week after krockfootball.com.au revealed 2019 grand final best-on-ground Brent Jacques was headed for the Belmont Lions.

Meanwhile, the Lions have continued its run of signings with the return of former captain Brodie Edge.

The star ruckman spent 2019 with Kolora-Noorat where played in a premiership with the Warrnambool & District league club.

Edge was a member of the GDFL Team of the Year in 2015 – the last year the Lions made the finals.
