Belmont Lions will be without Shaun McNamara for crucial clashes with Bell Post Hill and East Geelong after accepting a suspension following an investigation into an incident a match last month.
McNamara was charged by the investigator with rough conduct on Osca Riccardi in the Lions’ Round 11 win over the Magpies at Winter Reserve on June 28.
The former Geelong rookie suffered a concussion as a result and missed North Geelong’s loss to Bell Post Hill the following week.
The investigator assessed the incident as careless, high contact, and high impact, drawing a three-match sanction.
However, an early guilty plea from McNamara has resulted in a two-match ban.
He will be free to return for the Round 16 match-up with Inverleigh.
