A “perfect storm” of player departures and long-term injuries has Bell Post Hill openly admitting to a shortage of players heading into the 2024 GDFNL season.

The Panthers have farewelled at least nine players over the summer, including premiership greats Tim Barton, Dylan Witney, Nick Costello, Caleb Bacely, Beau McNamara, and star spearhead Will Ford.

Add to that the long-term injuries that have sidelined Nick Flaccavento, Josh Andrews, Adam Costello and Aaron Vacirca, and the depth at Myers Reserve has been sorely tested ahead of its Round 1 meeting with East Geelong on April 6.

“We’ve been unlucky on that front,” co-coach Justin Tarr told K rock’s Beyond the Boundary podcast.

“So, if there’s anybody out there looking for a game, then come up to Bell Post Hill, and you’ll be well looked after.

“Especially the kids that come out of under-18s … and then they just pull the pin because they don’t think they’ll get a game at their current club.

“It’s not too late if anyone wants to come for a run.”
