Pies maintain hold on Eagles

Reigning premier North Geelong has extended its winning streak over grand final opponent East Geelong, pulling away late for a 23-point win at Keith Barclay Oval

The Magpies’ 15.10 (100) to 11.11 (77) victory was their fifth straight against the Eagles after kicking the last three goals of the contest, including two to former Geelong rookie Osca Riccardi, who finished with four for the match, to remain unbeaten.

Corey also kicked four goals for North, with Boston Riccardi contributing three majors.

East spearhead Zac Smith managed four goals to take his season tally to 23.

Elsewhere, Bannockburn has run out 10-point winners over Inverleigh, 12.18 (90) to 12.8 (80), at Fortis Foundations Oval.

After both teams dominated a quarter each in the first half, the Tigers led by nine points at the main break.

Inverleigh took the lead for the first time 16 minutes into the third term thanks to a goal from Fin O’Keefe.

However, a late major from Leopold recruit Henry Hawker put Bannockburn back in front just before three-quarter time.

The Hawks led by five points entering time-on following goals from Nathan Mayes and Adam Donohue.

However, the Tigers had the final say, with Cooper Edwards putting the visitors back in front and Willson Mack kicking the sealer.

Alex Beardsell finished with three goals for Bannockburn, with Hawker and Mack contributing two apiece.

Mayes and Mason Dickson contributed three goals for Inverleigh.

Anakie took care of an inaccurate Geelong West, 15.10 (100) to 6.20 (56), at AA Semi-Trailers Oval.

Lara recruit Jackson Francese-Fulton kicked four goals, and big man Oscar Barter finished with three majors.

Nick Butters kicked two goals for the Giants.

Werribee Centrals joined North Geelong as the only remaining unbeaten teams after holding off Bell Post Hill at Symal Oval by 32 points.

The match remained in the balance at three-quarter time, with the Centurions holding a 12-point lead.

However, Centrals kicked the only three goals of the final term, including from brothers Bryce and Connor Linehan-Cunningham, to win 11.18 (84) to 7.10 (52).

Cam Primmer and Indi Parish combined for ten goals as Winchelsea had the better of Corio by 72 points at Eastern Reserve.

Primmer finished with six goals, and Parish contributed four majors in the 17.20 (122) to 8.2 (50) result.

Hershcelle Carr kicked four goals for the Devils.
