Bell Post Hill great Tim Barton has been cited for twice striking the same opponent in Saturday’s loss to Belmont Lions at Myers Reserve.
The six-time premiership Panther has been offered a one-match suspension and a reprimand from AFL Barwon’s Match Review Panel for separate incidents with Lion Brad Michell.
Both occurred in the third quarter, with one assessed as intentional conduct, high contact, and low impact, drawing a two-match sanction, which can be reduced to one game with an early guilty plea.
The second incident was assessed as a low-level offence with a base sanction of one match, reduced to a reprimand with an early guilty plea.
Barton, who spent last year with a group of Bell Post Hill teammates at Great Western, mentioned in last week’s MRP findings after being looked at and cleared of a dangerous tackle on North Geelong’s Charlie McDonald.
East Geelong star Tim Lee has been scrutinised twice in the narrow win over Werribee Centrals at Richmond Crescent.
He’s been cleared of high contact on Centurion Damian Williams following a second-quarter incident, with the MRP finding that Lee was attempting to protect himself.
Lee can escape with a reprimand for striking Josh McDonald, with the incident assessed as careless conduct, high contact, and low impact, drawing a one-match suspension.
However, an early guilty plea will free him to play in the mouthwatering meeting with North Geeelong after Easter.
In the Bellarine, Portarlington star Mitch Turnbull was looked at for high contact on Ocean Grove’s Jhdara Jones but cleared of any wrongdoing in the third quarter of the Demons’ win at Ray Menzies Oval.
However, Portarlington reserves player Jack Rose faces four matches on the sidelines over a dangerous tackle that hospitalised Grubbers youngster Luke Devlin.
And in the GFNL, Bell Park’s Matt Jones has no case to answer for a first-quarter incident that halted GWS Giants VFL midfielder Perry Lewis-Smith’s debut for Newtown & Chilwell.
