Geelong Falcons pair Josh Lindsay and Jesse Mellor have been named in the under-18 All-Australian team following the recent National Championship.
Lindsay, who finished equal fifth in Larke Medal voting and is expected to find an AFL home within the first ten picks in this year’s National Draft, was selected on a half-back flank.
A member of the AFL Academy, Lindsay, who attends Geelong Grammar and has Newtown & Chilwell as his home club, averaged 22.3 disposals, 3.8 marks and 445 metres gained across Vic Country’s four games.
“He was a strong performer for Victoria Country, with his speed and decision-making setting up the play from down back,” AFL talent ambassador Kevin Sheahan said.
“Courageous in the air and a standout leader.”
Geelong NGA eligible Mellor found a spot on the bench.
The Geelong West Giants product kicked eight goals for the championships and averaged 11 disposals, 4.5 marks, and 2.5 tackles.
“Medium forward who is powerful in one-on-one contests and strong overhead, using his body cleverly to out-position his opponents,” Sheahan said.
“Has a clever step through traffic and shows innate goal sense.”
