As the countdown to the new Talent League season continues, the Geelong Falcons have confirmed their under-18 squads for 2026.
The boys, who Paul Corrigan will coach for a seventh season, will have a 40-player squad, with 13 on their development list and three on what has been labelled a ‘Futures’ list.
Potential father-son selections are Jaxon Cooney (son of Adam – Western Bulldogs), Sam Knights (Matthew – Richmond) and Archie Daffy (Nick – Richmond).
Daffy and Cooney are draft eligible this year, while Knights will have to wait until next year.
Other sons of former AFL players on the list include Van Rahilly (James – Geelong), Tom Steinfort (Carl – Geelong and Collingwood), Jack McDonald (Alex – Hawthorn and Collingwood), and Wil Nicholls (Billy – Hawthorn and Richmond).
Tom Caracella, who is father-son eligible in 2027 to Essendon, where his dad Blake played 126 games, is on the development list.
Tash Heffernan will take charge of the girls’ team for a second season while Mel Hickey remains on maternity leave.
Her primary squad features 31 players, with the development list carrying five players.
Among the players selected are Gold Coast Suns Academy member Ksenia Dear, while reigning AFL Cairns Rising Star Shayla McNeill is on the development list.
The Falcons boys open their season on March 22 in Ballarat against the Dandenong Stingrays.
The girls first take the field on April 12, also against the Stingrays, in Bendigo.
