Geelong Falcon Meg Lappin will follow in her famous dad’s footsteps in pulling on a Brisbane Lions jumper after being selected in tonight’s (Monday) AFLW Draft.
The Lions selected Lappin with their final pick (59th overall).
Her dad Nigel played 279 games for the Bears and Lions, including being part of the Lions’ hat-trick of flags between 2001-2003.
He is a member of the Australian Football Hall of Fame, and since retiring at the end of the 2008 season, he has been part of Geelong’s coaching staff.
Lappin, a 179cm tall defender, was nominated earlier today as a father-daughter selection.
She played 32 games across three seasons for the Falcons and represented Vic Country at the under-18 National Championships.
Lappin, whose home club is Newtown & Chilwell, also made a VFLW appearance for the Cats.
She was the only Falcon to find an AFLW home, with Georgia Tyrrell and Stella Huxtable overlooked.
