GARRY Hocking will guide the fortunes of Leopold until at least the end of 2026 after signing a three-year contract extension.
The Lions announced the new deal for the second-year coach tonight (Thursday).
The Geelong great took the top job at Memorial Park ahead of the 2022 season, with Leopold reaching just its third GFNL decider in Hocking’s first year.
The Lions cut a swathe through last year’s finals with knockout victories over St Joseph’s, Colac and Newtown & Chilwell before a hectic September caught up with them in the grand final against St Mary’s.
“Garry’s commitment and dedication to the club have been unwavering since he took on the role at the start of the 2022 season,” the Lions said in a statement.
“We have witnessed incredible growth and progress in our club, both on and off the field.
“Garry has played a pivotal role in fostering a culture of camaraderie, sportsmanship, and excellence. His passion for the game is contagious, and his ability to inspire and develop our players has been fantastic
“This contract extension not only ensures stability and continuity for our club but also sends a powerful message to our current playing group, club members and supporters that we are committed to building a strong and successful future together.”
Hocking is the second GFNL coach to commit to their club after krockfootball.com.au revealed James Saker had inked a new deal at Bell Park earlier this week.
Leopold sits fifth on the ladder with a 7-3 record ahead of Saturday’s meeting with South Barwon (6th, 6-4)
