Bell Park is resigned to Ollie Bridgewater playing no part in the remainder of the 2025 season, even if it claims a finals berth.
The star ruck made a walk-on, walk-off appearance in the Dragons’ reserves’ win over Colac to help with finals qualification if his recovery from a badly broken leg suffered in a VFL practice match with Werribee picks up speed.
“It is unlikely, but the body’s an amazing thing,” coach James Saker told K rock Football following Saturday’s win over Colac.
“If he can surge ahead with how it’s feeling in the next few weeks, you never know.
“(It’s) unlikely, but we’ll try and give it a chance.”
Jack McMahon is a certainty not to be sighted again this year after suffering a dislocated hip in the win over Geelong West in Round 12.
“(A) dislocated hip, which I’ve never seen on a footy field, and apparently it’s reserved for the elderly or people in severe car accidents,” Saker said.
“He just was in the wrong spot at the wrong time; poor kid was in agony.
“He’s had a wretched run of luck with injury, so he’ll be next season.
“He probably won’t be running until January, Feb(ruary), but he’s keen to come back.”
Saker also confirmed Bell Park was waiting to find out the severity of a foot issue troubling Tom Pearson.
The fifth-placed Dragons face North Shore, Grovedale and Leopold to round out the home-and-away season.
