Newtown & Chilwell will welcome Will O’Dwyer back next year after a season in the state’s northwest.

The Queenslander spent two seasons with the Towners – where his uncle, Noel, is an iconic figure – playing 34 games and kicking 39 goals, including 25 in 2025, before joining Sunraysia League club Imperial.

There, O’Dwyer kicked 13 goals in 13 games.

“…Will is a versatile player who can do plenty of damage both through the midfield and up forward,” a post on the Eagles’ Facebook page said.

O’Dwyer is the fourth confirmed signing by Newtown & Chilwell, joining former West Coast and GWS AFL player Jarrod Brander, most recently at Sunraysia club Wentworth, Eddie Weeks (Surf Coast) and Brady Hall (Colac).

OFF-SEASON TRACKER

Meanwhile, Geelong West has unveiled its first two signings as the Garry Hocking era gets underway at Scaada Stadium.

The key forward couldn’t break into the talented Lions forward line during his five seasons at Memorial Park, managing four senior appearances.

The Giants have also added youngster Tamar Holt from South Barwon.

A talented cricketer, Holt also played 1st XVIII with Geelong College the past two years, and previously appeared at senior level with Colac and District club Apollo Bay.
