New St Albans coach Rick Munn has wasted no time welcoming some much-needed talent to Concept Oval following the announcement of three signings.
The Supersaints have welcomed former St Joseph’s player Jed Warrin, ex-Modewarre ruck Matt Kasparian, and Max Askew, who spent two years in the Joeys reserves.
Warrin and Askew spent this year with Colac and District club Apollo Bay, while Kasparian arrives from two seasons at Clunes in the Central Highlands League.
From the Goulburn Valley, Warrin played seniors with Shepparton Bears for two seasons and represented the GVL in an under-18 Interleague clash against the Ovens and Murray in 2022.
Kasparian is a South Australian native who spent a year playing under-18 football with Glenelg in the SANFL as a junior, where he was a teammate of two-time Brownlow medalist Lachie Neale.
Kasparian had two years with Modewarre before heading to Clunes, where he claimed two best-and-fairest awards.
Continuing the Clunes link, St Albans has announced former coach Luke Davidson as Munn’s senior assistant.
Davidson was linked to the vacant position at GDFNL club Winchelsea, which was eventually filled by Ben Moloney.
St Albans has revealed a host of re-signings in recent weeks, including Northern Bullants VFL-listed Sam Donegan, best-and-fairest Bailey Brogden, captain Jacob Russell, and key big man Hayden Elliott.
Meanwhile, in the GDFNL, Winchelsea has welcomed home Indy Parish from a season with Colac and District club Colac Imperials.
Parish will join brothers Cassidy and Fin at Eastern Reserve in 2025.
The Blues have also announced Thomson great Subali ‘Spud’ Armstrong as an assistant coach to Moloney.
In the Bellarine, Drysdale has revealed former Modewarre defender Jackson Paatsch as its first off-season acquisition.
Paatsch, who played six Talent League games for the Geelong Falcons in 2019, spent the last two seasons with Otway Districts in the Colac and District League, including as co-coach this year.
And Ocean Grove has added Jdhara Jones from Goulburn Valley club Tatura.
Jones played 13 games for the Bulldogs, who finished with the GVL wooden spoon.
He played in 2023 with Avondale Heights in the Essendon League and Yarra Junction in the Outer East competition.
