St Albans has used a connection with another off-season acquisition to land the signature of former North Melbourne player Eddie Ford.

The Supersaints have confirmed to K rock Football that the 23-year-old will appear for the GFNL outfit when not required at VFL level, where it is understood he’s signed with a Melbourne-based club.

It is understood that St Albans landed Ford thanks to a connection with previously announced signing Ethan Mantas.

He played 40 games and kicked 31 at AFL level in five seasons at the Kangaroos, and received a Rising Star nomination in 2023.

Meanwhile, St Joseph’s, which has farewelled a raft of senior players, has confirmed the previously speculated signing of Geelong VFL hopeful Jack Jovanovic.

From the Gold Coast, Jovanovic represented the GWS Giants in the Talent League this year, while also kicking 54 goals in 18 games for AFL Canberra runner-up Queanbeyan.

“Jack is currently training with Geelong’s VFL program, continuing to challenge himself and develop his craft against elite competition,” a statement on the joeys.football Instagram account said.

“His physicality, competitiveness and ability to impact games inside 50 make him an exciting addition to our forward line.”

And North Geelong premiership mentor Peter Riccardi will get the chance to coach another one of his offspring in 2026.

Son Boston, who is training with Geelong’s VFL squad after graduating from the Geelong Falcons program, has made the move from Newtown & Chilwell.

However, he may miss the chance to play with brother Osca, who, after appearing in the Magpies’ first flag in 12 years following a mid-season move to Keith Barclay Oval, is trying his hand in the WAFL with Fremantle-aligned club Peel Thunder.
