Newtown & Chilwell have unveiled their first signing of the off-season, with Ocean Grove captain Cam Fowler returning to Elderslie Reserve.
Fowler, who led the Grubbers in 2024 and 2025, made the last of his 45 senior appearances with the Towners in 2019.
At Ocean Grove, he played 44 matches.
It’s not the first time in recent years an Ocean Grove captain has made the move to Newtown & Chilwell, with 2023 skipper Joe McDonald spending 2024 with the Eagles before returning to the Grubbers this season.
Fowler is the seventh confirmed departure from Ray Menzies Oval, joining South Barwon-bound trio Kye Annand, Jamison Hallam and Brady Phillips, Miller Keck and Jack Stephenson (St Albans), who have joined St Albans, and Taj Wyburd (Peel Thunder).
The Grubbers have signed Ryan Bongart from Central Highlands club Ballan.
Newtown & Chilwell, which returned to finals in Steve Johnson’s first year as coach, have lost Will O’Dwyer to Mildura-based club Imperial.
