Leopold captain Marcus Thompson and dour defender Daniel Pitcher have received hospital treatment after a head clash during Saturday’s 130-point win over North Shore.
An ambulance was called to Memorial Park following the third quarter incident, with an initial assessment by paramedics clearing Thompson, who came off second best, of a concussion.
“Pitchy’s got a cut above his eyelid, and Pup (Thompson) has got a cut above his eyebrow,” Lions football boss Hamish Easton said.
“An ambulance was called just as a precaution. Both went off to hospital in their partner’s cars and needed some stitches.
“The paramedics assessed Pup, and (he had) no concussion symptoms. He knew exactly where he was; he knew it was Round 17; he knew the paramedic’s name.
“It was just a deep wound. He got some stitches, and he may need some plastic surgery.”
Pitcher has also been cleared of concussion.
“They just spun and collided, and Pup’s come off worse than Pitch,” Easton said.
“Fortunately, they’re all OK – a bit of cosmetic stuff, some stitches, but no concussion for either of them.
“But, we’ll monitor them and send them for an external assessment.”
