Grovey adds a third Kreuger

Grovedale could field a trio of brothers for the first time in nearly a decade following the signing of Bradley Kreuger.

Kreuger, a sibling of Nathan and Mat, has joined the Tigers from Encounter Bay in South Australia’s Great Southern League, where he kicked 14 goals from 13 games in 2025.

And he’s already made an impression, kicking five goals in a practice match win over Ballarat league club Lake Wendoureee on the weekend.

Nathan, who has signed with Geelong’s VFL team for a second season after an AFL career that yielded 15 games during stints with the Cats and Collingwood, and Mat aligned with Grovedale last year.

They managed one appearance together – the Tigers’ Round 14 win over St Albans, where Nathan kicked seven goals in his debut for the club.

The last trio of brothers to feature for Grovedale were the Delaneys – Luke, Cam and Tim – in 2017

Nathan’s partner’s brother Fin Kirsopp-Cole has also arrived at Burdoo Reserve, signing from GDFNL club Winchelsea.

After playing Lake Wendouree at Windsor Park on the weekend, Grovedale faces Redan and Werribee Districts in practice matches before Easter.

Meanwhile, Colac has welcomed reigning Colac & District league Rising Star Hamish Darroch.

Darroch has joined the Tigers from Birregurra, where he made his senior debut as a 15-year-old at the start of the 2024 season.

And Leopold has appointed Mitch Burgess as its new captain, replacing club great Marcus Thompson.

Midfielder Tate Porter and no-frills defender Jet Matthews will be Burgess’ deputies, with Billy Ritchie, Billy Clark, and Nic Ash making up the leadership group.

Thompson, whose brother Jai was skipper between 2011-16 and again in 2018, led Leopold for five years from 2021, which included consecutive premierships in 2023-24.
