Star South Barwon midfielder Sam James has his fingers crossed for a return to action by the second bye in early July.

James damaged his shoulder in the opening stages of the Swans’ Anzac Day loss to St Joseph’s and is scheduled to meet with a surgeon later this month.

“He’ll probably say if I want to get it done (surgery) straight away or, hopefully, give me the chance to get back playing,” James told krockfootball.live.

“The timeline is probably a minimum (of) eight weeks, then we’ll just go from there.

“Hopefully, I’ll get the rehab done and get a bit of body contact throughout training, and if I put my hand up to play, I’ll be right to go.

“That’s the plan.”
