A match day report laid against dynamic St Joseph’s small forward Hunter Lewis has been thrown out by AFL Barwon’s Match Review Panel.

Lewis had his number taken and received a yellow card for an alleged dangerous tackle on Grovedale’s Tom De Goldi during the third quarter of Joeys’ 100-point win at Burdoo Reserve.

However, after reviewing the incident, the MRP found the 2023 Rookie of the Year had no case to answer.

Two other incidents were looked at from St Joseph’s tenth win of the season, with captain Al Hickey and former Tiger Mitch Chafer cleared of any wrongdoing.

In the GDFNL, Anakie runner Kyle Kent has accepted a reprimand after being cited for abusive language by a runner to a player.

It followed comments directed to Inverleigh star Casey Meehan during the opening quarter of the Roos’ first win at Inverleigh Reserve since 2007.

The MRP assessed the incident as low-level conduct, to a player, and low volume, drawing a one-match sanction that was downgraded to a reprimand following an early guilty plea.

Anakie star Luke Dahlhaus was alleged to have kneed Hawk Xavier Lewis, but the MRP didn’t find that a reportable offence took place.

And in the Bellarine, Portarlington duo Steve Heppell and Nick Lane are free to play against Barwon Heads on Saturday after avoiding sanction for alleged incidents from the loss to Torquay at McCartney Oval.

Heppell was looked at for a late bump on Sheldon Ham, and Lane for an alleged strike on returning Tigers’ spearhead Lucas Anderson.
