A sponsorship deal will see West Oval known as Scaada Stadium.

One of Geelong’s most historic sporting facilities will undergo a name change as part of a deal with a local business.

West Oval, home to the Geelong West Giants in both the GFNL and GDFNL, Geelong West Cricket Club, and Geelong Cycling Club, will be known as Scaada Stadium.

The GFNL Giants and their predecessors have played at Weddell Road since 1914, with the GDFNL cohort moving from Bakers Oval in 2008.

“To welcome Scaada as our ground naming rights partner is a significant moment for our club,” Giants vice-chair Ben Rowe said.

“This is a partnership built on shared values, community, growth, and a commitment to doing things the right way.

“Having a respected, locally based company like Scaada invest in our club speaks volumes about the direction we’re heading.”

Located in the Federal Mills precinct, Scaada provides environmental consultant services to businesses.

CEO Tony Costa is a former Geelong West-St Peter’s player, while current GFNL A grade netball coach Dale Smith is founder and executive director of the Scaada Group.

“We are proud to partner with the Geelong West Giants, a club that plays such an important role in bringing people together and building a strong, connected community,” Smith said.

“Supporting local sport is something we are passionate about, and we’re excited to see Scaada Stadium become a hub for community activity, development, and success.”
