O’Dwyer departs Towners

Will O’Dwyer will depart GFNL semi-finalists Newtown & Chilwell after signing with a Sunraysia league club.

O’Dwyer has been unveiled as a recruit by Mildura-based outfit Imperial on social media.

The Queenslander spent two seasons with the Towners – where his uncle, Noel, is an iconic figure – playing 34 games and kicking 39 goals, including 25 this year.

O’Dwyer suffered a serious groin injury in the qualifying final loss to Colac, missing the first semi-final loss to eventual premier St Mary’s.

GFNL: COMINGS & GOINGS

Meanwhile, the busy off-season of rival GFNL club St Albans is continuing.

The Supersaints have announced the arrival of 194cm key defender Noah Cockerell from North Ballarat.

The cousin of current player Harry, 20-year-old Cockerell played with Cairns Saints, was part of the Gold Coast Academy, and represented Queensland in a Futures game in 2023 before making the move to Victoria.

They’ve also added St Joseph’s underage product Zac Cutropia.

Cutropia was the vice-captain of Joeys’ division one under-18 team.
