St Mary’s has used a family link to add former Geelong rookie Xavier Ivisic to its already talented list.
Ivisic, who will have the reigning GFNL premier as his interchange club while playing with VFL outfit Werribee, is the son of former Saint Joe, while his brother Noah is in the underage ranks at Anthony Costa Oval.
After being selected with Geelong’s first pick in last year’s Rookie Draft, the 19-year-old spent one year at the Cats, playing 13 VFL games after overcoming a pre-season syndesmosis injury.
He averaged 15 disposals, with a season best of 24 against Collingwood.
A Vic Country representative, Ivisic played the majority of his juniors at Geelong Amateur before aligning with Bell Park for his time at the Geelong Falcons while also attending Geelong Grammar.
He joins current Werribee players Sam Azzi and Josh Sanders as having St Mary’s as their interchange club.
The Saints have also welcomed home two-time Mathieson Medal winner Harry Benson from a season in Queensland and are treating big man Lachie Peck as a recruit after 18 months on the sidelines following a serious knee injury.
Premiership star Nick Connors and reserves grand final best-on-ground Sam Christensen are the only confirmed departures.
